The following is a wonderful speech by Mr. Li Wei, Manager of China External Communication Department of Schneider Electric. Welcome!
Li Wei:
Dear leaders, distinguished experts in the electrical industry:
I am very grateful to the Electric Times Magazine for inviting us to participate in such a forum. This theme is very meaningful to us. We are also very willing to share with Schneider Electric some views on the same proposition of localization and internationalization with our peers and experts. And experience.
As a company that has entered China for 20 years and has 20 production companies in China, Schneider Electric has many ideas on localization and hopes to share it with you. At the same time, as a company with 130 branches in the world, we have many international ideas and hope to discuss it with you. The first is that we are in the field of power distribution. Our position is in a leading position in the world in terms of market share and sales scale, and it is also our main business direction for automation and industrial control. The second energy management and power management, especially for power management, is our growing business area. Our business area covers four different markets and directions, 1. Energy infrastructure. For example, the machine tastes tunnels, bridges, transportation, and so on. 2, covering the industry, including various manufacturing bases, various industrial companies. 3. Covering commercial and industrial buildings, Olympic venue facilities, etc. 4, a large number of residential buildings, especially in the Chinese market, the scale is expanding, for Schneider Electric is a stage for us to show.
The history of Schneider Electric in China can be traced back to 1987. We set up the first company in China. If we want to trace it back, I think it can be traced back to Deng Xiaoping’s work at the Schneider Electric factory. At that time, he studied in France as a student. The first batch of foreign-invested enterprises entering China, 1987 happened to be the time for China's reform and opening up. In the 20 years of Schneider Electric in China, it is actually linked to every development of China. Our own development depends on the development of China. We will use our own development and the key words of China's development. If you compare, you will find Some very interesting phenomena. At the time of China’s reform and opening up in 1987, a group of foreign-funded enterprises such as Motorola and Samsung Electronics began to enter the Chinese market at that time, and invested in setting up factories to enter China’s business scope. At that time, Schneider Electric was also in China. We set up our first factory in Tianjin, and introduced mature circuit breaker technology to China. We developed, produced and sold together with Chinese partners. In 1992, China entered a stage of rapid development. Our market is open and foreign investment is more active. “Made in China†has become a trademark, which is the same for all Chinese companies. This is actually the beginning of China's internationalization. Since 1992, we have set up a large number of joint ventures in China. We have seven joint ventures established in China. At the same time, we started to establish a logistics center to make the sales and market of the electrical industry more orderly. At the same time, we started to set up a R&D center in China. The R&D Center is one of our three R&D centers around the world, and we set up our Investment Co., Ltd. in China. In terms of industrialization, we began to participate in some major industrialization projects. Since 2001, China has become a more important part of the world, from joining the WTO, starting to bid for the Olympic Games, from housing reform to infrastructure energy and western development. Among the key projects that have an absolute impact on China, Schneider began to gradually demonstrate its capabilities in this area.
At this stage, we set up another 11 investment plants, including western China, and another logistics center, including our China Research Institute, has begun to set up. At the same time, with the success of the Chinese Olympic Games, we have participated in the construction of Olympic venues a lot, and the construction of Olympic auxiliary facilities has also contributed our strength. With the growth of the real estate business, we have begun to cooperate with Chinese real estate developers in China's residential electricity security, and began to assist China in the development of real estate. At the same time, some landmark projects in China, including the South-to-North Water Diversion Project and the Three Gorges Project Schneider Electric, also participated in it. At the same time, we also started to be a corporate citizen in large numbers, including ourselves from employees to companies to participate in the Hope Project and donate some Hope Primary Schools. From 2007, our country is facing new problems, and the world is also facing this problem, saving energy and reducing emissions. From the company's point of view, Schneider Electric puts forward our goal of energy saving and emission reduction. We will mention the strategy of energy saving and efficiency enhancement, and we will share with you some ideas about Schneider Electric's energy saving and energy efficiency.
In the 20 years of Schneider Electric in China, you can see the business model of this map, which is developed in China. During this period, we also get a lot of help from our partners, including Chinese companies, including agents, including contractors. Wait, give us great help and grow with us. In the past 20 years, we have some numbers that we hope to share with you. In addition to the total investment amount, we hope that everyone will see it. At the same time, we want to let everyone know that our company has grown to nearly 10,000 people in China. At the same time, we have 20 production companies, two R&D centers, one laboratory, our Jinshan Low Voltage Electrical Products Laboratory, and we have a professional research institute, Schneider University. This is some of the performance of our investment in China. In addition, we insist on being able to innovate and share more innovations with China. We started to promote our energy efficiency solutions in 2007. This solution not only contributes to energy conservation, but we also pay more attention to improving energy efficiency.
Our 20 companies in China are all implemented through joint ventures. In the 20 joint ventures, we will bring our most advanced technology and the most advanced management methods into China, bring them into these enterprises, and grow together with China. At the same time, in terms of R&D investment, we have always maintained a turnover of more than 5% for R&D, and the R&D results will be labeled “Made in China†and used worldwide. We also work with some professional institutions in China, especially like standardization, including some universities to promote some of China's standards management.
Just mentioned these are the things we have shared with you over the past 20 years. In addition to this, in 2007, energy saving and emission reduction is not only the government, not just the society, but also every enterprise. The problem, Schneider Electric has launched our energy-saving and efficiency-enhancing solution since 2007. The energy-saving and efficiency-enhancing solution basically means that we can provide the society, the country, and our users with some benefits in energy management. In addition to saving energy costs and reducing energy consumption, it is more important to provide opportunities for development. We help our clients manage the results of energy cost optimization. We continue to use technology to help users improve energy efficiency, which is one of the more important aspects we think. Of course, on the one hand, it is reducing emissions, providing a greener environment for the society, and it is our responsibility.
When it comes to energy conservation and efficiency, there is a lot of content to share with you. Our energy efficiency and efficiency bring three benefits to this society. Reducing energy consumption is what the world needs, not just China. Reducing energy consumption reduces the cost of energy consumption through changes in the company's technology. At the same time, we have made reducing greenhouse gas emissions another important goal. In addition to reducing energy consumption, optimizing energy costs is another benefit. In addition to reducing energy acquisition and management costs, we also need to optimize the combination of solutions to optimize energy use costs and efficiency. We have a necessary precondition for energy conservation and energy optimization. This premise is to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of energy, especially for such a booming country. In terms of improving energy efficiency and reliability, we are most important to keep equipment running efficiently, to keep equipment running reliably, and to achieve continuous energy savings, not phased.
At the same time, through reasonable design and management, we reduce the risks in the production and operation process, turn energy management into a process of continuous reduction, and also a process of continuous improvement. Our improvement is our efficiency and risk management capabilities. More importantly, we can rely on proactive preventive maintenance to ensure the high efficiency of the equipment. Once the failure occurs, the consumption is far greater than the consumption just for saving. This is what we have been talking about. One of the most important aspects of efficiency management. Whether it is the past 20 years, or the energy efficiency gains we have now, cooperation with Chinese companies, cooperation with the Chinese government, and cooperation with Chinese society, our goal is to propose to build an electrical world and build a new electrical world. Today China is going to build China's new electric world. thank you all!
