As a firm portable audio party, in the 1 and 2 years of unknowingly, it also tossed a lot of audio equipment. In terms of front-end playback devices, I tried to push the iPhone directly, and I also tried to bundle it. Of course, I used the portable lossless music player commonly known as the "national brick."

Later, by chance, he entered the N3 of Kaiyin. He was surprised that such a small body actually had a good voice. Since then, he has begun to pay attention to the brand Cayin.

However, N3 is just an entry-level device after all, especially when it is used to push my favorite big ears, obviously can feel what is "powerless", so also wondering to upgrade equipment. In about July and August, we received news that Kaiyin's mid-range product, the N5, was about to usher in an update. After that, we finally heard this “Mark Rabbit” at the Guangzhou Sound Show in September. The pickpocketing plan was roughly finalized. .

Because it is the relationship between the old Kaiyin users (in fact, my N3 is only started in March this year, really not old), so you can enjoy the first batch of N5ii subscription in early November, but that activity is now over, so only Bring up the connection of the recent Jingdong pre-order.

Reasons to purchase

In fact, before the Guangzhou Audio Show in September, I wasn’t sure if it was going to buy N5ii.

At that time, the starting targets considered included the M3s of Mountain Spirit, the R6 of Haibei, and the Sony ZF300, a Sony Dafa that was worth buying at the moment.

Of these, Shanling is the first to go out for no reason, because I don't really like the brand's product development routines....

A woodcutter called Shanling passed by a bridge and accidentally dropped M1 out of the river. At this time, the river god emerged from the water. He kindly asked:

"Young coward, ah, is this M1 you lost, this extended M2S, or the M3S that has grown longer and has more balanced ports?"

The Seashell R6 received the news a few days before the show, so after listening to the N5ii at the show, I went straight to the booth at Seashells to get a glimpse of R6's face. R6's configuration is very good, the sound performance is also good, the key is the operation is really smooth - after all, Seashells engage in the system is not a day or two, this skill is still leveraged.

But R6 also has its "fatal injury"...

Because at the time it was still an engineering machine, the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen had no auto-hiding function, so it was a proper “three chin”! And ... over budget ~!

As for the ZX300A, at the time the HiFi circle could be a good applause, what was "black brick/brick technology decentralization," "belief in the blast," and "4.4 a choice of balanced conscience." Anyway, I was listening to the faith of worshiping the faith, but... ...

Single-ended is really average!

As an unbalanced headset for the poor burning, any 4.4 balanced interface and then strong, but 3.5 single-ended slag can not be tolerated ah! In particular, the poor thrust used to push big ears is definitely a game, Pass~!

Therefore, the final selection was only the Kai N5ii.

Appearance Gallery

Kaiyin is a state-owned enterprise. The past product appearance and packaging design really can only be used....

But when I got the N5ii, I was surprised by the light outer packaging.

Founder's black box front, in addition to the lower left corner of the small gold mark, only the use of stereoscopic pearl oil printing Kay logo and line outline N5ii front shape, this minimalist style compared with those outside Kai Sheng product packaging It really looks a lot better!

As for the back ... Forget the back of it, that very general is a routine, that is, the text of various features selling point, so I do not bother to take pictures.

Take out the jacket, inside is the same black flip gift box, open up, you can see the N5ii deity...... This is also very amazing.

The N5ii is firmly embedded in the left side of the box, while the right-side flap is the only accessory: the Type-C USB charging/data cable, and the brown hard case.

In the pocket on the left side of the flip, there is a paper version of the manual.

Just to help the company take product photos, it took a few shots on the camera.

The appearance of the old generation portable player of Kaiyin...can't be said to be ugly, but it is an alternative. From the N6 drum washing machine, to the N5 washboard, to N3's soap, Kai's design has been a lot of burning Tucao.

But on the N5ii, I finally saw a mature design that was gradually refined.

The shape of the N5ii is minimalistic, and the shape of Founder is almost free of any extra lines. This style is not called the N5 II, but it is more like the design extended from the first Android player i5.

The front is a 3.65-inch touch screen. Because of the depth-customized Android system relationship, the chin part retains a touch key to return to the previous menu (long press is to return to the main interface of the system). The scroll wheel in the upper right corner of i5 is retained and modified into a semi-enclosed style, which can effectively reduce the possibility of accidental touch. However, the cost is that the forehead has become longer, so the N5ii clearly looks more slender.

Before viewing the show, the N5ii will be very large and bricky. However, in fact, the hand was found to be very compact. The width is close to that of the N3, but it is higher and thicker.

However, the screen effect of the N5ii is normal, and the resolution of the 480*845 is not enough for the player, and the color of the screen is not full and the overall backlight brightness is low, which will affect the use experience under outdoor light.

Backing material Kaiyin finally no longer uses the "Ancestral" carbon fiber material, but the use of new silver fish scales, visually quite fresh. Kaiyin has already put a protective film on the screen and back plate at the factory, which should be well-received.

The frame of the N5ii uses aluminum alloy CNC molding, which not only visually looks good, but also facilitates heat dissipation. After all, it is very common for a country brick to use a stuffy trouser pocket. When I listened to N6mod, I couldn't stand the heat, let alone LH GO2pro. The N5ii's calorific value I think is acceptable. Listening for one hour in a row, the whole machine just feels warm, and the main heating area is concentrated in the lower part of the front screen.

Many old fans will habitually “wipe” the tuning knob every time they switch a track, and see it as a “ceremonial feeling”. Therefore, the N5ii continues the tuning knob of its own i5 and highlights it with different colors. However, compared to the bright gold version seen at the show, the official version of pale gold will appear to be low-key.

In terms of feel, the knob adopts a step-by-step design, which has a certain sense of positioning. Although the position layout is mainly for the right-handed one-handed control, I'm more accustomed to using the left and right index fingers to move the knob from the back and feel better than the right hand. More smoothly.

In the current design, this knob is used to control the volume change by encoding, but I think that if you can add the scrolling function in the folder browsing, it will be much easier to use.

There is only one ON/OFF button on the left side of the N5ii, and the playback button 3 (rewind, play/pause, forward) and dual TF slots are integrated on the right side.

Several physical buttons I think is a bit smaller, from the use of the experience is not as good as ZX300A and R6 kind of big button to go hand in hand.

The advantages of the dual card slot are obvious. Not only does the storage capacity increase, but two 128G TF cards are obviously cheaper than one 256G TF card of the same brand. Not to mention the N5ii's maximum support of 2x256G TF card capacity, the mother no longer have to worry about my songs enough to listen!

PS, N5ii actually comes with 32G of memory, the actual availability is about 25.1G, but with the urine of the Android system, this memory is best left to the system and third-party applications installed, song files or honestly throw TF card It's more reliable.

Currently, balanced port output is becoming more and more popular among national bricks, and it is decentralized to a lot of mid-end models with a price of 2 to 3 kilobits. The N5ii is no exception. In addition to retaining the original 3.5mm single-ended/Link Out/S/PDIF OUT composite interface, the 2.5mm four-section balanced port is currently used next to the current national brick.

In addition, the N5ii also follows the Type-C USB charging/data interface used on the N3. However, the fast charging design is still not used. It is said that it is not considered due to heat problems.

experience feelings

It's probably less than a week since the machine arrives, so many feature features are still being explored, so the main experience is left to the next article in the series.

Simply talk about how to get started.

The current player market is roughly divided into two major system camps:

On the one hand, it is a closed system based on linux development. The previous N3 is this type of player. Most of the basic functions of the player can be realized, and even Bluetooth reception/transmission functions are integrated, but online streaming is not supported. Playback does not support third-party applications;

On the other hand, more and more manufacturers are trying to customize the Android system deeply. The advantages of such a structure are obvious. It supports third-party applications, and it is easy to develop a good UI experience and is easy to share with mainstream mobile phones on the core hardware, including the N5ii. And the previously considered Seashell R6 is such an architecture.

But Android also has its drawbacks. Earlier, HiFiman's head chef Nankai Rice said openly that "Android's voice is slag." Although I learned from Seashells that SRC issues that are of general concern to the public have been perfectly solved in the hardware, system drivers, and first-party applications, SRC issues may continue for third-party Android applications. a period of time.

So, how to choose between the two, more is to see the user's personal choice ... ... I actually do not particularly care about this.

Because of the relatively low hardware configuration used by the N5ii, I actually felt that I was not as smooth as the Seashell R6 at the show (after all, people can play "The King's Glory"). However, after playing it for a few days, it still feels necessary for Kaiyin to further optimize the current fluency experience through firmware updates.

It may be described like this, the audience will feel that there is not a very specific standard for fluency. Let me give you the most straightforward example: basically any operation on the N5ii may have a delay of nearly 1 second in response time of the system. This includes cut songs, volume adjustments, etc. This may be more accustomed to users who do not use flagship Android models, but for those who are accustomed to the fluency of IOS devices, it will feel really a bit uncomfortable.

Why do you want to buy N5ii? Because I used it to listen to songs, not to play games or do anything else!

In terms of sound performance, I think the N5ii is beyond my expectations.

Although many people think that as a new generation of Kaiyin midrange models, actually still use the mobile DAC ESS 9018q2m a few years ago is very difficult to understand things. However, judging from the number of 9018q2m devices that I have contacted, the performance of the N5ii is not universally recognized as "hard", "digital sound" and other issues, and the performance of sound is also one of the best.

The Triumph portable player that I listened to carefully had two sets of N3 and N6mod, as well as his home amp C5, and the i5 also listened attentively at the show. As for the previous generation of the N5, the general reaction I learned was that of a stuffy analogy.

The N5ii's sense of hearing was obviously refreshed and the sound was transparent. In terms of sound density and fullness, certainly not comparable to N6mod, but compared with the younger brother N3, the N5ii's voice density has improved significantly, and the lines will be more distinct. And I compare any point is that N5ii is not so partial in the style of HiFi, the inclusion of different styles of music is relatively good, relatively i5 is a bit too strong.

On the tri-band distribution, the N5ii is more biased towards the midrange vocals. Although I'm not a woman poison control, I think N5ii's performance is very good. The high-frequency part has better control than the N3, which is more smooth for the performance of a violin like instrument. The low-frequency feelings are more restrained and restrained than those of other hearing products. Even if the two-headed tilted headphones such as the Titan5 are pushed to the sense of volume, they will not feel the head.

In addition, in terms of dynamics and sound field performance, thanks to the near-perverted low noise floor of the N5ii (see the AF2000 test data on everyone's altar), a clean black background makes the overtones clearer and smoother, creating a more open sense of space. .

However, the N5ii also has its lack of sound, for example, when used to push iron headphones, it is still a bit too clean and insensitive. Although Kaiyin’s aluminum plate beam has repeatedly stressed that “only DAC theory,” I still subjectively think that this pot is 9018q2m to go back!

In addition, the above sense of hearing is still based on the results of the 3.5 single-ended interface audition. The headphone of the balanced interface is temporarily on hand, so it is not easy to judge whether it is “ascension” as others have said.

to sum up

Because the time for the machine to hand is still short, plus this time just busy doing the Sennheiser AMBEO 3D recording headphone's public measurement report, so this out of the box evaluation is written like this. Go back and wait for me to wait for a while, and after robbing the balance headset, come back to submit a detailed experience report!

However, Aunt's old rules, but all reports have to list the advantages and disadvantages, so I will be "irresponsible" to list a few:

【advantage】

1, the appearance design and crafts really made a lot of progress. Compared with the past portable products of Kaiyin, the N5ii really looks good on the files;

2, sound quality, and more versatile style;

3, knob ~! Must be a knob ~! It is indeed a good design;

Disadvantages

1, no fast charge, and Andrews system power consumption is a bit high, not as full as a week as N3, to listen to 2 to 3 hours a day, it is estimated to be 2, 3 days a charge;

2, the design of physical buttons is still not ideal, too small;

3, the fluency of the system is not ideal, I hope the follow-up can improve.

Finally, with a beautiful back of a N5ii, the highlights, please find yourself!
