The biggest challenge is to design such a building in the traditional water town of Jiangnan, China: it consists of two back-to-back theaters, one with 1,200 seats and one with 600 seats, while still meeting the functions of modern theater. The design uses the “Bian Tilianâ€, which represents the auspiciousness, as a metaphor, so that the two theaters perfectly share a stage area, while the two theaters are connected by two ovals, one virtual and one real.
