With the intensification of competition in the lighting industry in recent years, it is inevitable that the lighting industry will face a reshuffle. Many companies hold high the banner of the brand, and often overlook the most important point when they scream for service to win, that is, the adoption of raw materials. At present, many luminaire materials are made of acrylic materials, but people are very strange to the term acrylic, that is, many people in the industry do not understand, people are clouds. To this end, our reporter interviewed Mr. Ge Weixin, Marketing Manager and Technical Director of Changzhou Fengsheng Plastics Co., Ltd.
Reporter (hereinafter referred to as the record): Hello, Manager Ge, please briefly introduce the situation about acrylic.
Mr. Ge Weixin (hereinafter referred to as Ge): "Acrylic" is the English Acrylics transliteration, which appeared in the 1920s. It is a generic term for acrylic and methacrylic chemicals, commonly known as "specially treated plexiglass." In the field of plastics, acrylic refers to polymethyl methacrylate, or PMMA, which is a thermoplastic engineering plastic with excellent overall properties. It is mostly used in outdoor and indoor signboards in the form of sheets. Its materials generally appear in the form of granules, plates, pipes and the like.
Reporter: What are the characteristics of acrylic as an important raw material for lamps?
Ge: First of all, acrylic has excellent optical properties (generally 92% strong), with high surface gloss, bright color, fullness, smoothness and hardness. Secondly, the performance is stable, not easy to deform, easy to form, and strong in plasticity. Once again, green and waste materials can be recycled and reused. The final surface hardness and scratch resistance are excellent, and it is easy to clean and maintain. The unique advantages of acrylic panels are precisely what the lighting industry needs, so they are favored by lighting manufacturers.
Reporter: It is understood that the casting process and the extrusion plate can be divided according to the production process. What is the difference between the two? Which one is more advantageous?
Ge: From a professional point of view, the cast plate has a high molecular weight, excellent stiffness, strength and excellent chemical resistance. Relatively speaking, the processing softening time is slightly longer and the tensile property is poor, so it is more suitable for processing large-sized identification plaques. Compared with the cast plate, the extruded plate has lower molecular weight, slightly weaker mechanical properties and higher flexibility. It is thermoplastic and easy to form from the aspect of luminaire production. This feature not only facilitates bending and thermoforming, but also saves About 10% of the cost. The softening time is shorter and the thermoplastic is better, which can better grasp the details and bring more space to the luminaire design. When dealing with larger sized plates, it is beneficial to various rapid vacuum blister forming and extrusion plates. The thickness tolerance is smaller than that of the cast plate, the precision is higher, and the thickness is more uniform, so that the lighting effect is better. The extruded plate is more environmentally friendly and has lower losses, and basically has no waste water.
Reporter: Can you briefly introduce the use of acrylic in the lighting industry?
Ge: The glazing body made of plexiglass acrylic extrusion plate has the special advantages of high overall structural strength, light weight, high light transmittance and high safety performance. Compared with other materials, it has great advantages. Due to the inherent defects of the casting plate, more foreign companies now tend to use the acrylic of the extruded plate. At present, the production of cast and extruded plates in foreign countries accounts for half of each, while the domestic use of extruded plates accounts for only 10%. Now many well-known foreign lighting manufacturers use acrylic extrusion plates, such as Panasonic, etc., so their quality is very stable and very competitive in the market. And some well-known large enterprises in China also mostly use acrylic extrusion plates. Without quality assurance, it is difficult to support a brand. It can be seen that in the next few years, it will be a trend to use acrylic to squeeze the board with quality.
