1. For inverters of different voltage levels and different capacities (especially those with built-in braking unit), the total resistance of the braking resistor should not be less than the allowable value of the braking unit.

2. According to the range of commonly used inverters, choose one or two kinds of resistance and power brakes.

3. Consider the power consumption (depending on the instantaneous maximum power of the brake power pack) according to the moment of inertia of the system, the bearing capacity of the mechanical system, and the slope requirement to achieve the brake stop.
3.1 Moment of inertia of the system: If it is not dragged, the moment of inertia of each stage containing the transmission ratio i can be roughly made using SolidWorks (because the mechanical system is also designed by itself, the total moment of inertia on the motor shaft is known after design). Then the motor shaft total inertia = motor rotor inertia (on the motor manual) + ((load inertia / i2) + transmission inertia) / i1.

4. According to braking power = K * energy consumption. The resistance and dissipation power requirements can be met simultaneously by series and parallel methods. For example: 380V, 22kW inverter, the brake power pack requires 27Ω, then the two parallel 56Ω=28 ohms can reach the requirement of instantaneous 26KW.
